COUNTY PREPARES FOR REOPENING

On Monday, June 8, 50% of county staff begin the return to onsite work, said Columbia County Board of Supervisors Chairman Matt Murell this week. Public accessibility to reopened buildings will begin the following Monday, June 15.

“Throughout the reopening process and going forward, the county’s first concern is to provide all employees and visitors with a healthy, productive, and safe working environment,” said Chairman Murell.

Among the items in the extensive list of procedures and protocol – gleaned from CDC and NYS Department of Health guidelines — for conducting business are the following:

Physical distancing will be maintained in the workplace and everyone must be prepared do don a mask if someone comes within six feet. For the public entering a county building, if someone does not have a face covering one will be provided. Regular cleaning and disinfection of shared surfaces, as well as highly trafficked areas, will be completed. Employee screening in the form of temperature checks and health screening questionnaire will be done daily.

“We are all responsible for the health and safety of our fellow employees and citizens. We ask everyone to do their part to follow all procedures and protocols to ensure a healthy tomorrow,” said Chairman Murell
