Empire Pass Program
The Town is always aware that our lack of a town center and accompanying recreations fields and/ or public pool may make it more difficult for our residents and their children to participate in town based outdoor activities. Therefore, we are always looking to expand our resident’s recreation opportunities while keeping too our rather modest budget. One of the wonderful features of Gallatin is that it hosts the larger part of Lake Taghkanic State Park which has hiking, kayaking, lake access and more. So, instead of trying to duplicate those features, we are instead offering our residents a free family Empire Pass to access the Park (and any other NY State Park as a bonus!). We have a limited amount of passes. If you previously had a pass it will not be renewed, please pick up a new one.
Please come to Town Hall, Monday and Friday 9-2 or Saturday 9-12 to pick up a pass .
Other Free Park Entry Programs
Golden Park Program
New York State residents 62 or older have free vehicle entry to all state parks on non-holiday weekdays. No pass is needed, show your drivers license for free entry on weekdays.
Lifetime Liberty Pass
The Lifetime Liberty Pass benefits for NY State residents who are Veterans or Gold Star Parents, Spouses, or Children, includes free vehicle entry to most state-operated parks and DEC-operated day-use areas as well as numerous state-operated boat launch sites, historic sites, arboretums, and park preserves; free greens fees at state-operated golf courses; free swimming pool entrance at State Park pools; and discounted camping and cabin rentals at most State Park and DEC campgrounds. The pass holder must be present when utilizing the pass for its intended benefits.
