Volume Reading Series – A free reading and music series featuring prose, poetry, and a short DJ set – Held every second Saturday at 7 pm at Spotty Dog Books and Ale in Hudson. – This month’s reading is a special night of emerging writers, including series founders, Dani Grammerstorf French and Hallie Goodman, along with Anna Victoria and Annie Bielski.

> Hallie Goodman’s writing has appeared in many publications, including Glamour, Condé Nast Traveler, Self, Redbook, Chronogram, and Paper magazine. She has penned popular blogs for MSN, Fitness magazine, and Yahoo Shine, among others. She is a former MARK NYFA Fellow, and a current MFA candidate at Vermont College of Fine Arts.
> Dani Grammerstorf French has an MFA in creative fiction from The New School and has been published in Playgirl, Broken Pencil, and others. She is the co-founder of the long-running Guerrilla Lit Reading Series in NYC. She lives in Hudson with her husband and daughter.

> Anna Victoria is a writer and photographer based in Hudson. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in English Literature, and currently uses her writing skills at Etsy, helping confused people use the internet.
> Annie Bielski is a writer, performer, and painter based in Hudson, where she regularly organizes and hosts experimental comedy shows. Her first solo show opens in January 2017 at Paris London Hong Kong (Chicago).

Before the Proprietors: The Dutch Port of Claverack Landing – Dr. David William Voorhees presents an illustrated lecture on the Dutch port of Claverack Landing, which existed long before the arrival of  the Proprietors who founded the City of Hudson – For over 120 years, the Dutch inhabitants of the region developed a prosperous community serving as an anchorage for ships carrying raw materials from inland farms to markets down river and delivering European manufactured goods to inland communities in exchange. Dr. Voorhees has had a distinguished career as an historian of New Netherland and early New York City history.  Presently, he is the Director of the Jacob Leisler Institute for the Study of Early New York History and the editor of de Halve Maen, a scholarly journal devoted to New Netherland studies, published by The Holland Society of New York.  In 2010, HRH Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands made him a Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau – The lecture is presented by Historic Hudson and the Columbia County Historical Society and is followed by a wine reception – Tickets may be purchased online or at the door – Information at www.cchsny.org or by email to [email protected] – 4 pm – Stair Galleries, 549 Warren Street
