Current Exhibition – Sara Borgegard: Brick, Scale + Concrete – “In the harbor of a town to the east of Stockholm, where Sara Borgegard keeps her atelier, a factory—in fact one of the most important porcelain factories in the Swedish art industry—is being torn down to make way for fancy apartments.  The loss of such an important industrial center will be devastating to the locals, many who have spent their whole working lives in the production line.  Borgegard reflects on this loss in Brick, Scale + Concrete. Francine Hunter McGivern & The Frank Institute @ CR10  present Creation Stories, a video collaboration between Elliott Green, an oil painter, and Colin Gee, a performer and writer, that emerged from talks the two shared about the character of time in their respective art forms. Green made stop-action sequences that document how his improvised paintings get made from a blank canvas into a completed artwork.  Gee performed hand gestures that appear, disappear, and then reappear in the abstract environments.  He tinted them to absorb their surroundings and then added a soundtrack that brought to the paintings another dimension of a wider world–human and natural. The result is that time, space, and psychical activity get compressed and made faster and fuller. – Elliott Green has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, and the Rome Prize.  Colin Gee is a performer and writer.
