Dear Gallatin Taxpayer,
There have been a lot of questions about paying your 2018 Town and County taxes before 2018.
The Tax Warrant (the legal procedure for releasing tax bills) is signed by the Columbia County Board of Supervisors on December 28th.
I will accept early payments on December 29th from 9-2 and December 30th from 9-12 at the Gallatin Town Hall.
I will also accept payments by mail that are postmarked December 29,30 and 31.
By New York State Law, payments postmarked before the 29th or after the 31st or have an illegible postmark will be posted in 2018.
Please do not use bill pay, these payments have no postmark.
Our online vendor has not loaded the 2018 tax bills to the website yet, this will probably happen late next week.
Please do not pay the 2017 tax amount. Either email me at [email protected] or call the Town Hall, 518-398-7519 on December 29th or 30th during my office hours I will give you the correct amount of your tax bill.
If you escrow your taxes through your mortgage, early payment may not be possible, your payment has already been scheduled by your mortgage company for January payment.
I will do my best to accommodate you the best I can.
