LOW COVID-19 NUMBERS TO START APRIL
COVID-19 cases As of the end of the day Wednesday, the Columbia County Department of Health had recorded 11 new cases of COVID-19 for the first three days of the week and month, according to Director of Patient Services Liz Galle.
In addition, there has been the death of a county resident reported this week, bringing to 176 the total deaths attributed to the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.
There are currently four individuals hospitalized, two in the ICU on a ventilator.
For the month of March, county DOH recorded 146 new cases. For the first quarter of the year, it has recorded a total of 998 new cases.
DOH COVID-19 & flu vaccine info
COVID-19 and flu vaccinations are available at county DOH at 325 Columbia St., Hudson, on Thursdays from 3-5 p.m. by appointment at 518-828-3358.
County vaccination rates
As of Saturday, April 1, the Columbia County Department of Health had administered 11,302 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Second doses now number 9,577. The vaccine administered is Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson. Note: J&J – a single-dose vaccine – is added as a first shot.
Third shots (boosters) of Moderna or Pfizer now number 4,132. Fourth shots (boosters) of Moderna or Pfizer now number 715. Johnson & Johnson boosters number 65. Pfizer bivalent boosters stand at 473, and 837 of Moderna.
Pediatric first shots number 707, with 686 second shots and 94 boosters.
The total number of Columbia County residents by all vaccine providers, as shown on the NYS COVID19 vaccine tracker website: 42,411 people with primary series, or 70.8 percent of the county’s 59,916 population.
