CHAIRMAN’S PRESS RELEASE

MANDATORY QUARANTINE NUMBERS SKYROCKET

With 93 reported active cases of COVID-19 in Columbia County, including 10 new cases Wednesday, the number of individuals currently under mandatory quarantine has shot up to 369, county Department of Health Director Jack Mabb said. Nineteen individuals are hospitalized, with three in the ICU.

“This continues to be a community spread,” said Director Mabb.

On Wednesday, county leaders discussed the possibility of conducting COVID-19 testing at different locations around the county. “This is something we’re looking at, with details to come,” said county Board of Supervisors Chairman Matt Murell. “Obviously, the more testing that can be done, the better.”

“With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I think we are all aware of the potentially dangerous spike in positive cases that could result,” added Chairman Murell. “As we’re driven indoors by the colder weather, it becomes all the more important to be vigilant about taking the proper steps to protect ourselves.”
