Chairman’s press release

LOW CASE NUMBER TREND CONTINUES

One new positive case of COVID-19 was recorded as of midday today by the Columbia County Department of Health, with one case on Sunday and Monday combined, no cases Saturday, and three last Friday.

“The trend continues, and that’s a wonderful thing,” said county DOH Director Jack Mabb.

Two individuals are currently hospitalized as a result of the virus.

Last Thursday, the county DOH concluded its first round of vaccinations at county schools with 28 shots at the Germantown Central School District. During that time, 220 vaccinations – 11 percent in the age bracket — were administered to county students aged 12-15.

Noting that 66.9 percent of county residents aged 18 and above are now vaccinated, DOH Director Mabb said today, “I think we’ll nudge up to 70 percent by the end of the summer.”

Vaccination opportunities are posted on the county DOH website at columbiacountynyhealth.com
